We have both always pursued many different passions and interests such as travelling, exploring the habits of the locals and their favourite places, feeling the genuine pulse of a chosen destination, searching for and comparing various different destinations… For quite some time, we also played with the idea of establishing our own tourist accommodation facility which would be based on many different elements like respect for tradition, natural materials, and Slovenian crafts. At the same time, we wanted to offer the accommodation which would provide its guests with the comfort of a boutique hotel, reflect our personal note, and create a sense of cosy homeliness. It was a pure coincidence that we came across an old bourgeois apartment in the centre of Maribor and immediately fell in love with it. At that moment we instantly knew that we really had to turn our idea into reality.
Gentry11 Rooms&More was established on the basis of our wishes, ideas, travel experiences, persistence, irreplaceable help provided by our families, and cooperation with some creative craftsmen. It was also founded on the notion that, after leaving our accommodation premises, a formerly total stranger should become a friend. The introductory chapter to the Gentry11 Rooms&More story was indeed written by ourselves, however, we would like to continue this particular story together with our guests.
Our accommodation facility is located in Gosposka ulica, which means Gentry Street. Gentry Street was first mentioned in 1488, and back then it was called »Herren Gasse«, which was the name given only to the most prominent streets in those days. Gentry Street once also served as a promenade representing a typical form of bourgeois social life in Maribor. People would visit the promenade on weekdays and Sundays to meet new people, friends and acquaintances, and to make themselves noticed.
Gentry11 Rooms&More is located in the centre of the city life, so we want our guests (just as was once a custom in Gentry Street) to meet new people and find new friends.
